In Memories of My Grandfather 1928-2006

Well for those who didn't know, my grandfather Ho Koon Hong passed away last monday on the 21st August. due to old man illness, human organs start to fail and stop working all these.. For the past one month he have been staying in the hospital for further observations because the medicines that the doctors gave are not working.. the day before his death, he was already on oxygen mask.. which means that actually the doctors were extending his life span le.. On Monday afternoon I recieved a call from my uncle and well the news was broken to us. Its sad because I know my grandfather had not been able to see and hear properly and not to mention remember who me and the rest of the family members were.. so these few years other then chinese new years, my grandparents' birthday and other mahjong sessions, there isn't really much seeing of him. Well the only good thing that came out from this is the rekindle of brothership. Previously there were some arguements between the elders and 1 of the uncle actually had not been visiting my grandfather for the past 5-6 years. This time round because of my grandfather being bedridden, he actually took the effort to visit him.. hope all things went well for him...
The wake was for 5 days.. before the death of my grand father, he told my grandma that he wanted a grand wake.. so we had one.. 5 day traditional Hainanese ritual.. its was tiring and I did fall sick.. ate too much peanuts I guess.. well I didn't considered ours is grand until my friend came by and he was shock by the number of tables set up (more than 20 tables i think.. full house) and he said something interesting.. he said that when my family members was there doing the rituals, we look like yakuza, japanese triad because there are simply too many people doing the ritual together, wearing the same colour clothes.. about 20 plus people i think.. haha.. the most grand wake that he visted before.. well partly must be due to the contributions of my uncle who was chairman of 4 engineering companies in Singapore and thus had business friends sending many blankets, flower wreath all these things..
Well at day 5, which was the last day, that's the day all tears start flowing like river... will to say that I'm my grandpa grandson, its totally true because we are connected telepathic. When my grandpa' body is move to a level below us, we can feel it straight away and everyone just started crying.... but as a guy, I cannot cry too loud.. must "REN".... Upon collecting the bones, the priest inspected the bones of my grandpa and said that my grandpa while he was alive was a great man because on his bones he had something call "se li zi".. which I only heard the term before in buddhism scripts.. he say that only one in every 1000 people, will have "se li zi" found in their remains. Anyone out there care to tell me what is a "se li zi"? Well at least my glad my grandpa has a good reputation ... well, life goes on..

Hmmm one thing which I find it very funny.. while me, my 2 cousins and one of their gf were playing mahjong during the last night of the wake, how come my cousin's gf win the most money while i win only a few dollars and my cousins lost? How Come my grandpa never give luck to my cousins and instead my cousin's gf? hai sad.. well.. for the record, I still haven't lost a single cent yet playing mahjong haha...

Think I should write down my formula here and lets have a discussion..
my methods are:
1. See my tiles first and decide the easiest method to win.
a: if alot of pair , go for pong pong hu.
b: if messy but no flower, go for peng hu.
c: if one kind has alot, go for ban se(half colour) or if greedy abit, qing yi se (full colour)
d: do not waste time doing shi san yao.
e: if there are not much flowers on the table, try not to attempt peng hu.
2. In mahjong, winning matters but losing also matters alot.. must be able to know how to win more lose less. must be able to see who need what tiles to win and try not to hit those cards if ur tiles are small compared to his.
3. concentrate on ur own tiles more then other people tiles.. they can block u by not hitting the tiles u want but end of day, they will throw because they want to win also mah..
4.Always remember"Pai ping bu hao, jiu shi ren ping bu hao".. meaning, always play fair and just.. dun anyhow play play.. haha..
For now these are the things to take note.. As I always say.. Mahjong is just a game of strategy and probability..

50 things about me (not my idea.. its copy of kao bei kia's idea haha..)

Seriously this post will post a difficulty for me because I have never really thought of 50 things about myself before.. not even 10 haha.. but I got motivated from one of my bro's, kao bei kia's post and decided to give it a try.. haha.. hmmm well it also serve as a list of things for my other friends to see if they know me really well anot haha.. Here goes..

1. The colour I like most is White ( because i wanna be prince charming haha..)
2. When listen to music, I prefer to look at lyrics because I like to know the meaning of the songs.
3. I love soya bean milk!! at least 1 litre per day ...
4. I always believe that what I did to others is what others will do to me.
5. I'm only talk and crap much to closer friends. Those who i know but never talk much because I'm still not comfortable crapping with them..
6. I'm always early, because I don't like to be late and that is also the reason why I prefer to wear a watch (to keep track of time)..
7. I will always dream at night.. but don't ask me what I dream about because some cannot say while some I can't remember.
8. I like cool stuff.. that's why my drawings tend to be cool looking..
9. I don't go clubbing because I don't really like to drink, I don't know how to dance (Tried before..) and I don't like the musics there..
10. I don't drink coffee because its too bitter.. I prefer milo haha one in the morning and one before I sleep..
11. I prefer quality over price.. meaning if the thing is good but pricy compared to one which is cheap but lousy, I'll get the pricy one... But I think 3 times before buying haha...
12. I prefer manual cars over auto (yes I know I'm stubborn..) because the feel of changing gear is so cool man... and the kick you get when each time u minimise the time taken to speed up from 0km/h to 100 km/h... Its a challenge..
13. I like cars... hope to zeng my car next time haha.. but ultimately I still hope to save up the money from zenging and buy one sports BMW... isn't it better? haha..
14. I like fantasy games... something that is not similar to how physics or science works.. it helps to give me inspiration for drawings and the characters sure look cool..
15. I sleep without aircon.. hated the block nose the next morning whenever I sleep with my aircon on.
16. I'm King of Daytona (arcade version) please feel free to challenge me and you'll know why I call myself the king haha... Have not lost yet..
17. I have not lost in mahjong for the past 2 years.. I don't know why but seriously had not lost yet.. (those people who still owe me money from mahjong session pls take note.. I still remember how much u all owe me haha..) and I do not have a mahjong set at home...
18. I played guitar so that I can play those songs that I like to sing along.
19. I like to go K box.. do what? sing lor.. sing what?.. only chinese songs..
20. I also like to play pool.. (not the one with water but the one with balls).. I dun use "spider" the stick to further away and harder to hit balls.. instead I use my left hand to move the que.. have been training using to hit with my left hand.. U can find me at Pool Junction near Princesep street..
21. I am a Gundam Fanatic.. well.. they look cool.. that's the point ha..
22. I use to stummer in front of the gal I like.. but now no more le.. ha.. so too bad.. u guys can't find out so easily which gal I like now le haha..
23. I am currently learning Japanese , Elementary 2 because i hope to visit Japan one day and was able to understand everything they say.. cool eh!..
24. Currently cutting down on animes and increasing Jap dramas.. found a bunch of kakis to watch and share Jap dramas..
25. I fix my own computer when something crop up... for those who have no idea ha.. have been fixing quite a number of people comps already...
26. Every MoonCake festival, I will sure to to Goodwood Park Hotel and buy the mooncakes there.. its expensive but worth it because they are heavenly delicious.. Yummy!
28. Currently I'm trying to get myself as tan as possible.. because I'm just too fair for a guy le.. So anyone free can jio me go Sentosa for a sun tan session.
29. When ever I tell those people to intro gals to me?.. I'm just kidding K?... u intro to me, I also too shy to talk to her de..
30. I like wasabi alot!.. every sushi I eat must put.. super nice and shiok!.
31. Do not disturb me went I just woke up.. tend to be abit bad tempered...
32. My running sucks.. I cannot run 2.4 very well but can do max 12 chin ups le.. so still ok lah haha..
33. I tend to wake up early everyday.. even on sat and sun i wake up at 8am?.. ha
34. I like to dilly dally before I go out.. i can wake up at 6 am and leave home at 730am for sch at 9am.. ha
35. I'm not good with BGR. I only can be friends with opposite sex but dun know how to move on further le.. maybe kanna reject too many times le bah haha..
36. I like jackie chan movies.. because of all the sleek moves and all the funny things in his movies but ultimatly still like the heroic stunts.
37. My handwriting is horrible from young until pri 6 when my tutor cum friend, told me off and I started wrting nicely..
38. I'm flat footed.. haha So Why Am I In Guards?.. diao...
39. Hmmm I dun know how many people have this condition but i breath thru my nose only one hole at a time.. sometimes left, sometimes right..
40. My passed traffic practical Test total got 4 pts.. eh why? because I took 3 time to pass.
41. I got contact lenses but dun wear it often .. why? because I'm lazy to put in on early in the morning..
42. When I wanted to buy something expensive, I'll think for a long time , thinking whether do i need this or will there be a discount next time.. sometimes I will go home and then go back that place and look at the item again and again before i can decide.
43. Currently prefer to go Kinokuniya to buy files because they had all sorts of unique files from Japan.. but at a slighly heavy price..
44. I normally will wake up before the alarm clock rings at the time I set.. haha.. funny eh?..
45. When travelling from one place to another, I tend to put on my earphones (cost $80 from Sony) and listen to music.. that's because I dun really like to hear people talking loudly along the way or in the transportations..
46. I only donate to those who approaches me during flag day for donations.. those who stand there, holding on to the tin cans and stare dun know where de, too bad..
47. I dun know how to read minds.. So friends out there.. pls tell me how u feel.. i dun know and dun want to guess..
48. I hate people who wear "masks".. if they are untruthful to me, they will get it..
49. I will never dye my hair.. firstly because of strong objection by my grandparents.. dun want them to worry about me (though both my parents dye theirs haha..) and secondly I prefer black.. ha..
50. I guess relationship cannot be forced but just have to wait and see ba.. that's my resolve for now.. unless something or someone changes my mindset.. So meanwhile.. time to get serious in my studies!!!..
